The team

ModelGenius was built inside ClassGenius — inside a real product, under real pressure — by a team that had to answer the same questions every AI-native company is now facing: which model is actually safe to switch to? How do you know? What does the data say?

The people who built it come from places where the stakes were high and the standards were non-negotiable — a diabetes solution acquired by Medtronic, consumer hardware shipped at Amazon scale, foundational networking work at Cisco and Raytheon. That is not the usual AI startup pedigree. That is the point.

That is the culture ModelGenius was built in. And it is the standard every validation run is held to.

Katelijn Vleugels, Ph.D.

CEO & Co-Founder

Katelijn is a serial entrepreneur with a track record of building and scaling breakthrough technology companies.

As CEO and Co-Founder of ClassGenius, she has helped pioneer AI-powered educational technology and has experienced, firsthand, the challenges organizations face in navigating a rapidly evolving AI landscape. That experience led to the creation of ModelGenius.

Prior to ClassGenius, Katelijn co-founded Klue, a diabetes technology company acquired by Medtronic in 2019, and Ozmo Devices, where she helped pioneer low-power Wi-Fi networking technologies. She holds a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from Stanford University, where she also served as a Consulting Professor, and is the inventor on more than 20 patents.
